AZERBAIJAN: New Rules for Payment of Work and Residence Permit Fees

May 5, 2017

Effective immediately, the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued updated payment instructions for state fees for work permits and temporary residence permits.

The new rules stipulate that these payments must be made directly from the account of the sponsoring employer in Azerbaijan, and can no longer be made on the employer’s behalf by third parties such as authorised migration agents.

The changes are being implemented as a consequence of the latest changes to Azeri tax legislation which regulate cash payments.

Payments should be made via the Government Payment Portal.

Our advice

Employers sponsoring foreign nationals for work permits and temporary residence permits in Azerbaijan must ensure they pay the required state fees directly from their own bank account, rather than through an authorised migration agent, to avoid delays.
