COSTA RICA: Sharp Increase in Guarantee Deposit Rate Affects Current Cases

October 11, 2019

Effective immediately, the General Directorate of Immigration has significantly increased the amounts of guarantee deposit payable by applicants for immigration status in Costa Rica.

Previously, the rate was set at USD 300 for applicants from most of the world, and USD 100 for those from Central America.

The new rates are defined per country of origin, and range from USD 281 for Guatemala to USD 4785 for Cape Verde.

The change affects cases currently in progress and pending resolution.
