The Brazilian government has announced a new visa waiver measure for Chinese citizens traveling to Brazil for short-term stays. The regulation was published on May 7, 2026, came into effect on May 11, 2026, and will remain valid until December 31, 2026.
Under the new rule, Chinese citizens may enter Brazil without a visa for stays of up to 30 days for the following purposes:
- Tourism
- Business activities
- Participation in events, conferences, and meetings
- Cultural, artistic, and sports activities
- Family visits
The measure was adopted on a reciprocity basis, as China has also granted visa-free entry to Brazilian citizens since 2025.
According to the Brazilian government, the initiative aims to strengthen bilateral relations, encourage tourism, and facilitate commercial and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Please note that the visa waiver applies exclusively to short-term stays. Appropriate visas remain mandatory for work activities, residence purposes, studies, or stays exceeding 30 days.
