By virtue of Resolution 9316 (2024), which modifies Resolution 5477 (2022), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia extended the deadline for transfer of residence visas (R) for holders who were issued visas before October 2022. Under Resolution 5477 (2022), the deadline to transfer a residence visa was October 21, 2024. The new deadline is October 31, 2026.

According to Resolution 9316 (2024), those who have obtained residence visas before 2000 and cannot provide a copy during this process must attach a letter, under oath, justifying their reasons. Additionally, they must provide an extended certificate of migratory movements valid from the year in which the visa was issued, and a copy of their last Foreigners Identity Card.

Resolution 9316 (2024) also clarifies that holders of Tourism, Business, Crew and Events, Courtesy for Visiting Diplomats, and International Agreements visas (V), regardless of the validity of the visa granted, will be exempt from the visa registration process and Foreigners Identity Card request.
