Immigration Summary

A Work Permit is the standard immigration process for foreign nationals who will be working in Namibia for more than six months. It is endorsed into the applicant's passport for up to two years and is renewable. The applicant must have an employment contract directly with the Namibian entity

Foreign nationals may work in Namibia for up to 90 consecutive days on a Short-Term Work Visa issued for a limited period (not exceeding three months). Renewal is not possible but further applications can be filed from within Namibia. The applicant may change status in Namibia from a short-term work visa holder/visitor to a long-term work permit holder. This visa is appropriate for urgent work, usually within the engineering or construction industries. The employment contract must remain outside Namibia.
