By: Hannah In-Chan, Director, Newland Chase Advisory.

Danish authorities have announced their intention to introduce a work permit exemption for certain international personnel involved in the organization and execution of business events, conferences, and trade fairs held in Denmark. Under the proposed exemption, key international event staff—including managers, planners, organizers, technicians, and communication professionals—will be permitted to work in Denmark for up to 10 days without the need for a work permit.

This exemption will apply exclusively to closed, indoor business events with a minimum of 400 registered participants. The 10-day period will encompass preparatory work, activities during the event, and post-event duties. Further details, including the effective date, are expected to be confirmed by the Danish authorities in due course.

The proposed work permit exemption is expected to be a welcome development for a broad range of companies and professionals involved in event delivery in Denmark, particularly for self-employed individuals.

While the implementation date has yet to be confirmed, companies and individuals are strongly advised to continue securing the necessary work authorization in accordance with current regulations until further notice.
