Geneva, Switzerland

From January 1, 2026, the gross minimum hourly wage in Geneva will rise to CHF 24.59, up from the current CHF 24.48. This minimum wage applies across all economic sectors. However, on the recommendation of the Employment Market Supervisory Council (CSME), the Council of State has set a different rate for agriculture and floriculture, reflecting the specificities of these industries. In these sectors, the gross minimum hourly wage will increase from CHF 17.99 to CHF 18.07 as of 2026.

Since November 2020, the Canton of Geneva has implemented a minimum wage aimed at combating poverty and reducing the phenomenon of the “working poor.” Each year, this minimum wage is adjusted according to the cost of living, based on the Geneva Consumer Price Index.

This regular adjustment underscores Geneva’s commitment to fair pay, social equity, and maintaining the purchasing power of its workforce. While other cantons also apply a minimum wage (Neuchâtel, Jura, Ticino, and Basel-Stadt), the amounts for 2026 have not yet been announced. Minimum wage levels for these cantons should be announced by the end of 2025.
