Salman Cheema
As Vice President of Immigration Advisory at Newland Chase, Salman Cheema leads a global team of experts providing strategic, actionable guidance to clients navigating complex immigration and mobility challenges. With a deep understanding of corporate immigration strategy, Salman works closely with multinational clients to simplify cross-border movement, ensure compliance, and align immigration programs with evolving global workforce needs.
Before joining Newland Chase, Salman held leadership roles across several transformative mobility initiatives at Amazon. His work spanned U.S. immigration escalations, mergers and acquisitions, global immigration expansions, crisis management, and Amazon’s groundbreaking Welcome Door program—a first-of-its-kind corporate initiative supporting humanitarian-based immigrants. Prior to Amazon, Salman led the Global Immigration team at Erickson Immigration Group, following eight years in private practice focused on U.S. immigration law.
Salman holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, an inactive member of the District of Columbia Bar, and an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Based in Washington, D.C., Salman is also committed to public service, offering pro bono legal support to immigrants and humanitarian rights organizations, including RAICES.
