POLAND – COVID-19 Provisions Ended

July 7, 2023

The government of Poland announced the state of epidemic threat related to the COVID-19 pandemic has been cancelled as of 1 July 2023. The state of epidemic threat was put into place on 2 March 2020 and extended periods of legal stay for foreigners in Poland, including extensions to visas, temporary residence permits, and application deadlines.

Affected individuals will now have until 31 July to file for any extensions covered under the pandemic legislation.

Poland also raised the minimum wage for full-time work on 1 July to PLN 3,600/week, or PLN 23.50/hour gross. This can affect employment contracts for organizations with foreign workers as they will now need to meet the new minimum wage levels to remain in compliance with the increased salary threshold.

Finally, Poland issued several rulings affecting Ukrainian nationals staying in the country under the provision of the emergency legal stay provisions put in place for displaced persons. One key ruling is the extension of temporary permits and visas for many displaced Ukrainians until 4 March 2024.
