The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has announced a new requirement impacting employment visa renewals and cancellations in Dubai. Effective 31 October 2025, all employment visa renewal and cancellation requests will be subject to verification of outstanding Dubai Police traffic fines. If any unpaid fines are identified, they must be cleared prior to or at the time of processing the visa renewal or cancellation. Applications with pending fines may face delays or rejection during processing.

To ensure smooth and timely visa processing, GDRFA recommends that applicants:

  • Review their Dubai Police traffic record prior to submission.
  • Settle any outstanding fines in advance of initiating visa renewal or cancellation.

We also recommend that applicants who are currently residing in the UAE and applying for a new employment visa under an in-country employment process ensure that there are no outstanding Dubai Police traffic fines at the time of application submission.
