Mexico City

Effective immediately, Brazilian citizens holding a valid passport who intend to travel to Mexico for up to 180 days may apply for an electronic visa as an alternative to obtaining a physical visa through a Mexican Consulate, provided they enter exclusively by air and do not engage in remunerated activities. This electronic visa is available only to Brazilian nationals entering Mexico under the immigration condition of Visitor Without Permit to Perform Remunerated Activities. Travel must be non-remunerated in nature, and entry must occur via a Mexican airport. As of the date of this alert, no additional nationalities have been designated as eligible for this electronic visa.

Validity, entry conditions and fees

The electronic visa is issued for single entry only and carries a maximum validity of 180 days from the date of issuance. Brazilian nationals using this modality are required to obtain a new electronic visa for each entry, even if traveling again within a short period. The applicable government fee is USD 10.00, payable exclusively by credit or debit card. Accepted payment methods are Visa and Mastercard.

Important considerations for travelers and employers

Possession of a visa does not guarantee admission into Mexico. The electronic visa authorizes the traveler to present themselves at a port of entry, where final admission is determined by Mexican immigration authorities. Where travel is intended to initiate a temporary or permanent residence process, the appropriate immigration pathway must be assessed in advance, as this electronic visa is not suitable for residence applications.
