MALAYSIA – ESD introduces online interview and document sighting.
August 5, 2025

While the company interview requirement continues to apply only in exceptional cases, the introduction of an online scheduling and notification system brings welcomed clarity.
Similarly, the digital document sighting process will likely reduce processing time and improve compliance, especially for companies managing multiple applications. We anticipate minor adjustments in the rollout phase, and we will continue to monitor implementation closely.
As part of Malaysia’s broader initiative to modernize its immigration platform, the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) will be introducing two key digital features in August 2025:
- August 6, 2025: Launch of the Online Company Interview functionality
- August 7, 2025: Activation of the Online Document Sighting process
These updates will affect all Employment Pass (EP) and Professional Visit Pass (PVP) applications.
Key information to note for applicants and sponsors
From August 6 onward, interview notifications, if applicable, will be issued directly through the ESD online portal, replacing email-based communication and improving tracking. Companies will gain the ability to reschedule interviews using the system by selecting the earliest available slots, adding greater transparency and convenience to the process.
Beginning August 7, all document sighting appointments will be managed online. Applicants and sponsors will receive digital prompts via the ESD portal to upload or verify documents as needed. The system will now display specific, case-based documentation requirements for both EP and PVP applications.
Users will be able to view and book the next available time slots for both interviews and document sighting sessions, eliminating the delays caused by manual coordination.
