As of September 1, 2026, the Flemish Regional Authority will require an additional retribution fee payment of 180 Euros for each combined Work and Residence permit (including both 1st applications and renewals). This fee is not applicable to Short-term Work Permits.
This retribution fee will cover the administrative costs of the Work Authorization part of applications, handled by the Flemish Regional Authority. It will allow the region to achieve efficient processing times without lowering the tightened level of control.
It is in addition to the federal retribution fee, which covers the costs of the Residence permit.
The application will not be handled unless the payment has been processed. This can be done in the One Stop Shop immediately after filling in the application form or during a short window of time after submission of the application. In the latter case, a notification will also be sent via the e-Box. When the payment has been processed, the application will receive a new status, ‘Retribution paid’, and will be sent to the region for further handling.
