The Iraqi Council of Ministers has introduced an important update concerning the National Electronic Insurance Platform. This initiative is designed to streamline the health insurance process for visitors, arrivals, and residents in Iraq, ensuring a more efficient and simplified visa application experience.
Key updates to the National Electronic Insurance Platform.
- The health insurance fee must now be paid electronically when applying for a visa through the E-Visa system.
- No additional fees will be required at Iraq’s entry points for visa activation.
- The health insurance fee now includes the visa activation charge, eliminating extra administrative steps and expediting the entry process.
New compliance requirements.
- Travelers must present a hard-copy health insurance document to the immigration authority upon arrival.
- A new visa sticker will be electronically printed to ensure accurate traveler information and minimize errors in visa processing.
Regulatory framework for the updates.
As per Article 12 of the decision issued by the Iraqi Council of Ministers on January 15, 2025, this updated health insurance process is part of Iraq’s ongoing efforts to modernize its visa system. The implementation of the National Electronic Insurance Platform is expected to enhance efficiency, reduce entry delays, and provide a more seamless experience for all travelers.
By integrating health insurance payments into the E-Visa application process, Iraq aims to simplify entry procedures while ensuring compliance with immigration regulations. This update reinforces the government’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve travel facilitation and border control mechanisms.
