MALAYSIA – I-Kad Cards Re-Issued

September 22, 2023

The Expatriate Services Division (ESD) in Malaysia has begun re-issuing i-Kad cards to Employment Pass (EP) holders who work for companies registered with the ESD. Currently, the only i-Kads being reissued are for the transfer of endorsements for EP holders from an old passport to a new one.

The i-Kad is the only other document – other than a valid passport – that foreigners can use for official identification purposes in Western (Peninsular) Malaysia. It is a credit card-sized document with biometric identification data.

Re-issuance of i-Kad cards under these limited circumstances began on 8 September.
