UNITED STATES – DOS Visa Fee Increase

June 30, 2023

The Department of State (“DOS”) recently implemented its fee increase for nonimmigrant visa (NIV) and border crossing card applications. DOS first announced these changes on May 25, 2023, to take effect on May 27, 2023. However, the implementation was delayed until June 17, 2023. Because the increases are now in effect, applicants must pay the new fees.

The fee changes implemented by the rule are as follows:

  • Non-petition based NIVs ((B, C, D, F, I, J, M, TN/TD, S, T, U) will be raised from $160 to $185.
  • H, L, O, P, Q, and R category NIVs will be raised from $190 to $205.
  • E category NIVs will be raised from $205 to $315.
  • Border Crossing Cards for Mexican citizens aged 15 and over will be raised from $160 to $185.
