CHINA – Consular Posts in Japan Resume Issuing Visas

January 30, 2023

Effective immediately, Chinese consular posts in Japan have resumed issuing Chinese ordinary visas to Japanese citizens. Both the port visa and 72/144 hour visa free transit policy to Japanese citizens have also been reinstated as well. China had reportedly put restrictions on visas for Japanese citizens on 10 January 2023.

We will continue to monitor developments on the visa, travel, and immigration policy in the wake of China reopening its borders as Lunar New Year celebrations for the Year of Rabbit wind down.
