From March 1, 2025, the Immigration Department of Malaysia will begin using the ePASS system for new and renewal Expatriate Services Division (ESD) applications. ePASS was previously used for renewal applications only.

The ePASS system will apply to the following application categories:

  • Employment Pass Categories I, II, and III (new and renewal)
  • Professional Visit Pass
  • Residence Pass-Talent
  • Dependent Pass
  • Long Term Social Visit Pass
  • Transfer of Endorsement / Balance Endorsement

The changes do not apply to pass endorsement of foreign nationals engaged with public universities and government agencies.

Newland Chase insights.

The ePASS expansion is a positive initiative and supports Malaysia’s broader strategy to modernize administrative processes, with the goal of reducing processing times and improving service efficiency.
