Immigration Summary
A Work Visa is granted to foreign technical and managerial personnel for the purpose of imparting technical skills to the local population. The visa must first be approved by the Board of Investment and then by Ministry of Interior before a consular visa application is submitted. The applicant must have an employment contract directly with the Pakistani entity. The work visa is initially valid for up to two years and renewal applications can be made without an upper limit on total duration of stay. Certain nationalities are on a “negative list” and need to register with the local police once in Pakistan. If the work visa is in a managerial category this requirement will fall away for most nationalities.
