USA: Additional Passport Pages Service Being Phased Out

October 28, 2015

United States citizens abroad will soon no longer be able to have additional pages inserted into their passport, as this service is being phased out in line with the rollout of the “Next Generation” U.S. passports in 2016. Instead, US citizens will be required to renew their passport completely if they run out of blank pages whilst abroad.

The National Passport Information Center has confirmed that the new “Next Generation” U.S. passport will include significant design changes and security features, so in the months leading up to this implementation U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas will slowly phase out the availability of additional page inserts.

Whilst the additional pages facility was popular with frequent travellers, companies with U.S. employees based abroad should be advised that this option will be terminated fully on the 1st January 2016.

Additional page inserts will still be available to applicants applying by post from within the U.S. and Canada.
