OMAN: Update – Ban on Hiring Foreign Nationals in 87 Professions Extended

Oman’s Ministry of Manpower has extended its ban suspending the recruitment of foreign nationals in 87 professions, across ten sectors, for another six months from 30th July 2018.
Who is Affected?
The affected sectors are as follows:
- Information technology
- Accounting and finance
- Sales and marketing
- Administration and human resources
- Insurance
- Information and Media
- Medicine
- Air transport
- Engineering
- Technical professions
Exemptions
- Work permits issued before 29th January 2018 will remain valid until their date of expiry
- Employers registered with the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development or the Public Authority for Social Insurance are exempt from the ban
