HONG KONG: Judgement Permitting Dependent Visas for Same-Sex Spouses Upheld
On 4th July 2018, Hong Kong’s highest court, the Court of Final Appeal, upheld a previous decision by a lower court to allow same-sex spouses to hold dependent visas, denying an appeal by the Director of Immigration.
INDONESIA: Delays Expected in Work Authorization Processing as New Online System Launches
On Monday 2nd July 2018, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) unexpectedly announced that its previous online application system for RPTKA (expatriate placement plan) and IMTA (work permit) applications would be replaced by a new online system, integrated with the Directorate General of Immigration, from Monday 9th July 2018.
UNITED KINGDOM: New Scheme for Non-EEA Researchers Introduced from 6th July 2018
The Home Office has introduced the new “UKRI Science, Research and Academia” scheme, which allows non-EEA researchers, scientists and academics to come to the UK for up to two years.
RUSSIA: New Address Registration Rules
New rules for the registration of foreign nationals, which take effect on 8th July 2018, mean that employers will no longer be able to register their foreign national employees at the company address, and that employers or landlords, rather than employees, will be responsible for carrying out the registration.

INDIA: New Deadline for Linking Aadhaar to PAN
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline for residents to link their Aadhaar number to their Permanent Account Number (PAN) until 31st March 2019. This is the fifth time the government has extended this deadline.
