VENEZUELA: TR-L work visa delays
March 31, 2014
Due to the on-going political unrest in Venezuela, government offices, such as the Ministry of Labor, Ministry of the Interior and Justice and Administrative Service of Identification, Migration and Foreign Affairs (SAIME), are currently experiencing considerable delays in processing Transient Labor (TR-L) work visa applications.
It has been reported that TR-L applications have recently been delayed by at least 4 weeks, in addition to the standard processing time of around 8 to 12 weeks. Furthermore, upon arrival in Venezuela, registration and Identity Card applications with SAIME can be expected to be setback by around 3 to 4 weeks.
Given that these delays are likely to create a considerable administrative backlog between the various government offices, companies and applicants alike should account for further possible delays accordingly.
