VIETNAM – Change of Processing Authority in Hanoi
June 11, 2024
By: Hannah In-Chan
The Hanoi Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) has temporarily delegated authority to the People’s Committees of Districts, Communes and Towns in Hanoi to process and issue work permits to foreign workers in the following categories:
- Work Permit Exemption for spouses of Vietnamese nationals
- Work Permit re-issuance
- Work Permit renewal for foreigners working in Vietnam
Such applications will need to be submitted to the People’s Committee with jurisdiction over the respective district where the sponsoring entity is established.
The delegation of power is provided on a temporary basis from 1 June 2024 to 31 December 2024, when the management of such processes is expected to revert back to the Hanoi DOLISA. Processing of all other permits and the issuance of the Foreign Labour Demand/Job Position Approval, when required, will remain with the Hanoi DOLISA.
Newland Chase insight
It is anticipated that there will be delays to processing of applications during the transition period, and we are monitoring developments in Vietnam for any indications of other Provinces also looking to change processes.
