SWITZERLAND – Short-term work notifications must be submitted via EasyGov.
March 18, 2025
By: María Rabaneda López, Immigration Service Delivery Country Lead, Newland Chase Switzerland
As of March 17, 2025, all short-term work notifications for Switzerland must be submitted through EasyGov.swiss, the official online platform for companies. The previous application process was discontinued as of March 14, 2025.
While the notification process itself remains unchanged, the transition to EasyGov may present challenges, particularly when creating company profiles or managing access permissions.
What to expect
The shift to EasyGov introduces new registration requirements that may impact processing times. Swiss companies must create a profile on the platform, while foreign companies are required to obtain a company identification number (UID) before submitting notifications. The UID request can take 2 to 3 weeks, which may delay the ability to submit notifications.
Additionally, as Swiss authorities adjust to the new system, notification approvals may take longer than usual. Employers are encouraged to plan their assignees’ short-term work in Switzerland well in advance to avoid disruptions to business travel.
Important changes
With the move to EasyGov, companies must navigate several new procedural requirements to ensure continued compliance with Swiss short-term work notification rules. While the core process remains the same, these updates may require additional setup and preparation.
- Profile-based system: Each company or employer can only create one profile, as required by law. Within this profile, authorized users (such as immigration providers or HR representatives) can be granted customized access permissions. Employers can define and restrict access levels based on specific needs, such as limiting work permit access while granting full control over tax and social security functions. Access settings can be modified at any time.
- Data migration: Existing profiles and notification records have been automatically migrated. When logging into EasyGov for the first time, users must import their profile using their current username and registered email address. Without this information, archived notifications and employee records will not be accessible. Only one import per notification profile is allowed.
- Registration process:
- Swiss-based companies/self-employed persons: If not yet registered, Swiss companies must create an EasyGov account at EasyGov.swiss. An activation code will be sent via post. A telephone number is required for login security.
- EU/EFTA/UK-based companies: If not yet registered, companies must create an EasyGov account and apply for a company identification number (UID) as part of the registration process. A UID is mandatory for submitting notifications.
Planning ahead
To minimize disruptions, employers should avoid last-minute submissions and account for potential delays in profile setup, UID issuance, and notification approvals.
