April 29, 2025

By: Nethi Thayyil, Immigration Director – APAC Hub, Singapore & India

In light of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, the Government of India is suspending all visa services for Pakistani nationals with immediate effect, effective April 24, 2025.

Key points of the decision are as follows:

  • Pakistani nationals will no longer be permitted to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES). All SVES visas previously issued to Pakistani nationals are hereby cancelled.
  • All existing valid Indian visas held by Pakistani nationals stand revoked as of April 27, 2025.
  • Medical visas issued to Pakistani nationals will remain valid only until April 29, 2025.
  • This decision does not apply to Long Term Visas (LTVs) previously granted to Hindu Pakistani nationals. These LTVs will continue to remain valid.

This measure has been undertaken in the interest of national security and public safety.
