VENEZUELA: Document Registration Services Temporarily Suspended

June 9, 2017

The Autonomous Service of Registration and Public Notary Offices (SAREN) has announced that document registration and notarisation (authentication) services have been suspended until further notice.

The suspension is due to damage to SAREN’s online systems suffered during the anti-government protests that are currently taking place in Venezuela.

It should be noted that, as part of the standard procedure of legalisation and Apostille of documents, these must be previously validated by SAREN, so that consequently the legalisation and Apostille services are also affected.

Our advice

All employers and applicants who require documents to be validated by SAREN, legalised or Apostilled in Venezuela, should expect significant delays in this process, and in any onward applications in support of which these document are required.
