AUSTRALIA: Proposed Changes to Skilled Migration Lists

The Department of Jobs and Small Business is currently undergoing a public submissions process to review proposed changes to the Short and Medium Long Term Strategic Skills Occupation Lists and the Regional Occupations List.

The proposed changes, published as a ”Traffic Light Bulletin”, affect a range of employer-sponsored, general skilled migration and state-nominated visa programs.

The public consultation process is currently open for submissions and will close on 20th June 2018.

What are the proposed changes?

The proposed changes target occupations that are flagged for:

  • Possible Removal from the Short Term Skilled Occupations List (STSOL)
  • Possible Movement of Medium Long-Term Occupations (MLTSSL) to the STSOL
  • Possible Movement of STSOL Occupations to the MLTSSL
  • Possible Movement of STSOL Occupations to the Regional Occupations List (ROL)
