CANADA – Upcoming Immigration Plan

November 9, 2023

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced immigration targets for 2024 through 2026, continuing increases previously announced for 2023-2025.

For 2024, IRCC set a target of 485,000 immigrants. This increases to 500,000 in 2025 and continue at that level for 2026. The plan also stipulates levels of French-speaking immigrants, looking for 6% of the target number to be French-speaking immigrants in 2024, then 7% in 2025, and 7% in 2026.

One of the goals of the IRCC’s immigration plan is to ensure Canada has a stream of immigrants to meet national goals of transitioning to a net-zero economy, ensuring job vacancies in key industries are filled, and promoting the growth and expansion of the Canadian business sector.
