CHINA: Security Tightened at Ports of Entry and Exit in Shanghai

May 21, 2014

The fourth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is currently taking place in Shaghai, China. The two-day event is underpinned by significant increases in security measures at all ports of entry and exit in Shanghai. The week is likely to see delays in customs procedures, as all related government offices including consular and customs departments focus their attentions on safeguarding the summit and its participants, including 11 foreign heads of state. As such, delays are expected at customs points across the city, and all travellers should be aware of heightened security checks.

CICA will discuss security and stability in Asia and the summit is expected to finish as scheduled, with all delayed processes due to return to normal at the beginning of next week.
