Immigration Summary

Foreign nationals working in Bangladesh normally require an E Visa, supported by a recommendation from the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), a post-arrival work permit from BIDA and security clearance from the Home Ministry.

Once the work permit has been issued (usually for one year but can be up to three years – renewable up to a maximum of five years) the provisional E visa (and any FE visas for dependents) are extended in line with the work permit.

For foreign nationals visiting Bangladesh under a service agreement for supply, installation or maintenance of equipment and software, supervision of a project, or training, an E1 Visa is required. For assignments of under six months, a work permit is not required.
