INDONESIA: Issuance of Special Recommendation Discontinued

October 11, 2022

Indonesia’s Investment Authority (BKPM) has announced the removal of the special recommendation application from the relevant government agencies prior to lodging a work permit in the country and this takes effect from 8 October 2022.

What has changed?

Due to the pandemic, the Indonesian government has introduced additional requirements to be met for bringing in foreign nationals into the country. A special recommendation from the relevant government agency must be applied for before a work permit can be filed.

It has now been announced that this additional requirement has been removed. This announcement will not impact any ongoing applications where the BKPM recommendation has already been lodged or approved.
