ISRAEL: Visa processing to be affected by Government department closures
September 14, 2012
Companies who are planning assignments to Israel over the coming months should note that visa processing will be affected by the temporary closure of Government departments in observance of upcoming religious holidays.
Israel”s Ministry of Interior (MOI) and the Population, Immigration and Border Authority (PIBA) will be closed to the public during the holidays. The PIBA will not will not accept or adjudicate any work permit applications or extensions and the MOI will not process visas on the following dates :
16-18 September – Rosh Hashanah (marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year)
25-26 September – Yom Kippur (“Day of Atonement,” holiest day of the year in the Jewish calendar)
30 September to 9 October – Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles)
Some Israeli consulates and embassies across the world will also observe the holidays and will not be processing visa applications on these dates. These include the consulates in Beijing, Berlin, Chicago, London, New York, Shanghai and Washington DC.
We advise that all applicants for Israeli visas check with the consulate or embassy where they plan to submit and establish processing times before confirming assignment dates or booking flights to avoid being caught out by the closures.
