ISRAEL: Innovation Visa Program Introduced for Foreign Entrepreneurs

November 17, 2015

Israel”s Ministry of Economy have announced a new initiative entitled “Innovation Visas for Foreign Entrepreneurs”.

Visas are being offered to foreign nationals to start new technological enterprises in Israel and to develop their expertise in their particular field, which in turn should increase productivity and competition in the market.

Israel has become well known for fostering tech start-ups in recent years. It is hoped that this measure will ease the industry”s access to foreign talent, for many of whom long-term work visas have been difficult to obtain in the past, in light of Israel”s strict immigration policies for foreigners.

Applicants who continue to operate in Israel beyond the initial two-year period will be eligible for an “expert” visa, and their companies will be able to apply for support grants from a government department called the Office of the Chief Scientist.
