On 26 April 2023, the Japanese Government laid out its plans to attract highly-skilled foreign talent and is considering implementation of an immigration framework for digital nomads in a bid to compete for talent, overseas investments, and be known as Asia’s largest startup hub.
Japan will take the necessary measures to attract international remote workers (so-called ‘digital nomads’) in the future by understanding and examining the situation of visas and residence status with relevant ministries and agencies.
