KUWAIT: Increase in Visa Application Fees and Exiting Expats to be Fingerprinted at Kuwait Airport

October 9, 2015

The Kuwait Interior Ministry has recently approved a proposal to increase fees for a number of visa categories.

The Interior Ministry”s assistant undersecretary for Nationality and Residency Affairs, Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, has mentioned that fee increases will apply to visit and tourist visas, temporary residency, self-sponsorship and family dependency visas.

The approval will see the previously free one-month visit visa costing KD 30; a three-month tourist visa costing KD 90; the family reunion (dependent) visa fee increasing from KD 100 to KD 150, and for those applying as parents and siblings, an increase from KD 200 to KD 400.

Procedures for foreign visitors exiting the country will also involve additional steps as these individuals will be required to have a biometric scan at the Kuwait International Airport. Fingerprints of all passengers will be taken, except of citizens, diplomats and judges. In addition to this, checks will be made on individuals to ensure they are not subject to any travel bans or restrictions, before they are permitted to leave the country.
