MALAYSIA: New Job Advertising Requirement for ESD Employment Permit Applications

Effective 2 October 2020, companies registered with the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) intending to apply for new or renewal employment permits for foreign workers are required to place an advertisement for the job vacancy for at least 30 days on the JobsMalaysia portal.
- Within 1 day after the ad is placed, form Pdf1 must be submitted to the local Labour Department.
- After 30 days, the local Labour Department will issue a recommendation letter which must be submitted in support of the Employment Pass application.
Note that, at the time of writing, there has been no equivalent announcement for companies registered with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
