Qatar Phases in New Residence Cards
July 23, 2015
With effect from 15th June 2015, the Qatari government has begun phasing in a new form of residence card to replace previous forms of ID card or passport label.
Current holders of Residence Permits and ID cards will not be required to immediately replace their existing identification but rather the new format will be phased in as cards and permits expire.
An important new development, however, is that children under the age of 16 will also be issued with these new Residence Cards which they will be required, alongside adults, to present to staff when entering or leaving Qatar.
In addition to the standard version, the Qatari immigration authorities have also allowed applicants to choose a smart residence card which will offer the same advantages as the previous Smart ID card, including the use of Hamad International Airport.
