RUSSIA: Ban on Turkish Citizens

December 2, 2015

Due to recent incidents, Russia has reacted with a presidential order (order 585), issued on the 28th November 2015, confirming a ban on Turkish citizens to enter Russia. The ban will commend the 1st January 2016.

The ban will not affect Turkish employees already working in Russia on the basis of labour or civil agreements.  However a Turkish employee may find it difficult to extend their work permit once their current one expires.

The Federal Migration Service office has also, in the past several days, refused to accept technical or business invitation letters from Turkish citizens. Turkish citizens who have had work visas issued before the Presidential Order was put forward, have also been denied entry to Russia in the past few days.

As part of the sanction any Turkish citizen, with the exception of diplomats and those with a residential permit, will be denied entry to Russia until further notice.
