Singapore: New Requirements for Employment Passes
November 9, 2011
Singapore”s Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has introduced new assessment criteria for Employment Passes, which will take effect from January 2012.
This is part of the government”s initiative to “tighten the eligibility requirements for those entering lower and mid-level professional, managerial and executive jobs,” and reduce the number of foreign migrant workers coming to Singapore.
We have summarised the changes as follows:
Q1 Pass: Qualifying salary to increase from $2,800 to $3,000. Educational qualification requirements will also be tightened, “so that only those from good quality institutions will be eligible.”
P2 Pass: Qualifying salary to increase from $4,000 to $4,500.
P1 Pass: No changes – qualifying salary remains at $8,000.
Please view the announcement from the MOM for further details, including how these changes will affect existing Employment Pass holders.
