SLOVAKIA – Foreign Police Closures

The Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic announced all Foreign Police offices in the country will be closed as of 11 September and will remain closed for the remain closed for the rest of September. According to the Ministry, the emergency closures are due to an influx of illegal immigration to Slovakia. Foreign Police resources will be used to deal with the ongoing situation.

The office closures will have a direct affect on foreigners who need the services of the Foreign Police. While the Ministry has promised to reach out to any foreigners affected by the closures, it is worth noting that any standing appointments between 11 Sept. and 30 Sept. are cancelled. The only exceptions are:

  • Applications for the purpose of study for the first-year high school and university students
  • Application for visas deemed in the interest of Slovak Republic
  • Temporary Refuge Registrations

The Ministry further warns the Foreign Police closure may be extended depending on the illegal immigration situation.
