SWITZERLAND: Services Mobility Agreement Extended

November 23, 2022

The Services Mobility Agreement (SMA) in place between Switzerland and the United Kingdom has been extended until 31 December 2025. The Service Mobility Agreement has been working well and responding to a demand in the Swiss economy, leading to the decision for the extension.

The SMA is temporary and has been applied provisionally since 1 January 2021 (post Brexit). Among other things it enables Swiss and UK companies to benefit from service providers based respectively in the UK and Switzerland.

Under the SMA extension, UK companies may therefore continue to send business consultants, IT Experts, Engineers, etc. to Switzerland under the short-term work notification procedure for a maximum period of 90 days per calendar year. The continuation of the Service Mobility Agreement is effective from 1 December 2022.
