UNITED KINGDOM – Heathrow Strikes, Summer 2023

June 16, 2023

Heathrow Airport is expecting major delays (and potential flight cancellations) this summer due to union strikes. Approximately 2,000 officers will be taking part in the strikes, with the goal of receiving higher wages to combat the cost of living and current inflation rates.

Terminals 3 and 5 will be impacted for the first time.

Strike Dates

The strikes at Heathrow will take place on the following dates:

June: 24th, 25th, 28th, 29th and 30th

July: 14th, 15th, 16th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st

August: 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th

The strike dates overlap with the UK school holidays, August bank holiday and festival of Eid, which will likely lead to further delays and fewer seat availabilities on running flights. Passengers of affected flights should refer to their booking terms and conditions to see if they are eligible for compensation.
