VENEZUELA: Delays Expected for Work Permit Applications
April 8, 2016
In an effort to reduce energy consumption, the Venezuelan government has introduced reduced working hours for all government departments from 7th April to 31st May 2016.
This reduction in hours will have an effect on the efficiency of certain document processes, such as Legalisations, Work Permit applications, and Visa renewals.
What are the revised hours?
Government departments will be open from 8am to 1pm Monday to Thursday, and will be closed on Fridays, meaning that the working week will be reduced to 20 hours between the months of April and May. Therefore, it has been advised that significant delays are to be expected during this period.
Although this schedule will end on 31st May, due to the inevitable backlog of applications, it is advised that delays may continue until the end of June.
Action items
Please ensure that you leave yourself plenty of time to apply for any Venezuelan visas or document legalisations you may need, and be prepared for a delay in receiving these until the end of June.
