British-Irish visa scheme introduced for Chinese and Indian visitors

November 19, 2014

The UK and Ireland have officially agreed to a new British-Irish visa scheme to enable Chinese and Indian visitors to enter the UK and Ireland on a single visit visas as opposed to applying separately to each country. The scheme started in China at the end of October with India to follow shortly afterwards. This scheme will benefit a large number of visitors to the UK and also boost the economy for tourism for both countries particularly since the simplification of the process will attract people to apply. These developments are a welcome change and demonstrate the Home Office”s commitment to making the visit visa system more accommodating to tourists. Further consultations are taking place to simplify the business visitor route also for the UK and we will report on those changes as soon as they have been implemented.
