IRELAND: Minimum Wage Increase and Immigration Offices Opening Hours

Minimum wage increased

With effect from 1st January 2016, the statutory minimum wage in Ireland for an adult will increase from €8.65 per hour to €9.15 per hour.  

Immigration Offices Christmas and New Year Opening Hours:

Visa office

The visa office will be closed on Thursday 24th December, Friday 25th December and Monday 28th December.  The visa office will open from 9.30am – 12.30pm on Tuesday 29th December, Wednesday 30th December and Thursday 31st December. There are no online appointments available on these days.

Normal opening hours will resume from 8am on Monday 4th January 2016.

Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB)

The GNIB will be closed to the public from 1.00pm on Thursday 24th December 2015 and will re-open for business on Monday 4th  January 2016 at 8am. If you need to renew your GNIB residence permit during this period and cannot do so before they close, do not delay on attending when they re-open in the New year.

Dept of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation

The DJEI will open as usual on Tuesday 29th December, Wednesday 30th December and Thursday 31st December. Please note that due to the volume of applications currently received, Critical Skill permit applications are taking slightly longer than usual to process. Please do plan accordingly.
