London Metropolitan Students – Updated Guidance from UKBA

We recently wrote a blog detailing the revocation of the London Metropolitan University”s licence to sponsor non-EU students, with the aim of providing guidance for affected students and current or prospective Tier 4 Sponsor Licence holders.
Since posting our blog, however, the UK Border Agency (UKBA) has issued more detailed guidance for international students who are sponsored by the London Metropolitan.
The guidance can be viewed here, but we have highlighted some key information below.

Students at the London Met who are already in the UK on a current, valid Tier 4 visa do not need to do anything at present. The UKBA will write to you after 1 October and you will be given 60 days from the date of your letter to either make a new student application or to arrange to leave the UK.

London Met students who hold a current Tier 4 visa and are on holiday outside the UK may return to the UK and London Met students who have applied to the UK to extend their current Tier 4 visa are advised that their confirmation of acceptance for studies is no longer valid and cannot be used to apply for an extension of stay in the UK. In both circumstances, the UKBA will write to you after 1 October and will allow you 60 days in which to make a new student application or to arrange to leave the UK.
