MEXICO – Bilateral Visa Agreement with Brazil

July 28, 2023

Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a press release indicating as part of the closer and stronger bilateral relationship between Mexico and Brazil, the two governments are exploring new ways to facilitate the movement and travel of their citizens.

Both countries have agreed to establish a reciprocal system of electronic visas in the coming months. This system will be applicable only to Visitors Without Permit to Perform Remunerated Activities.

The Mexican government has not yet officially announced when the bilateral agreement will begin, nor has the corresponding agreement been issued in the Official Gazette. Therefore, consular visas for Brazilians traveling to Mexico are still required at the port of entry.

Newland Chase will provide updates to the implementation of the Mexico-Brazil agreement as they occur.
