RUSSIA: Address Registration Within 24 Hours During FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 and World Cup 2018

May 24, 2017

From 1st June 2017 until 12th July 2017, foreign nationals arriving in the cities of Moscow, St Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi will be required to register their place of stay or residence within 24 hours of arrival, rather than within seven days of arrival, as usual.

The change is part of the reinforced security measures which are being introduced during the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.

The stricter registration rules will also be effective in the cities of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Rostov-on-Don, Saransk and Samara during the 2018 FIFA World Cup from 25th May 2018 to 25th July 2018.

Failure to register in time may result in fines of 2000-7000 rubles and possible deportation from Russia.

Our advice

Foreign national visitors to and residents of Russia who are planning to stay in the designated cities during the Confederates Cup or the World Cup should be sure to register within 24 hours of arrival.
