Tier 2 Sponsors Renew your COS Allocation

February 5, 2013

We are writing to clients to remind them that their current allocation of Certificates of Sponsorship (COS) is due to expire on the 5th April 2013 and action should be taken to request next year”s allocation.

Since the 6th April 2011, when the Points Based System was introduced, all Tier 2 General and Tier 2 Intra Company Transfer unrestricted COS allocations are subject to a fixed allocation period that runs from the 6th April to the 5th April the following year.

If you are licensed in Tier 2 General and/or Tier 2 ICT, you can request an allocation of unrestricted COS up to 3 months in advance of your allocation expiry date but your new allocation will only be available from the 6th April.

If you require additional unrestricted COS before the end of your Tier 2 General and /or ICT allocation year, you must request these through the Sponsor Management System online.

Sponsors are also able to request a new allocation in other Tiers and categories in which they are licensed.  However, the new allocation period in any tier/category other than Tier 2 General/ICT will begin from the date the request in granted and will be valid for 12 months.

We advise all clients to make their allocation requests as promptly as possible and, if they are at all unsure about the proper procedure for submitting renewal requests, to take advice from an immigration specialist.
